University is the best institution for learning higher education and professional skills for students. According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan there are 124 Universities in Pakistan of which 68 are public universities and 56 are private universities. These 124 Universities are playing a vital role for raising several Graduates, Post-Graduate and Doctorate Degree for the development of this country (Pakistan).
Now, I come to the main point which is related to ground realities of Universities production. According to a HCE report every year all Universities produce Bachelor, Master, M.Phil, PhD and PGD degree holders are 4,195,030 students from 2001-09 sessions and annually almost 450,000 students. This production is greater than market consumption. When a degree holder comes to the market for getting job, then he/she realizes that job opportunities are less than job requires.
So, according to my perception this upraising ratio of students every year in the Universities of Pakistan is very dangerous for those students, who have not reference for applying to any post in public sectors or private sectors. In Pakistan, those students are very lucky who have strong reference for getting appointment letter in public sector and they adjust in suitable way, doesn’t matter either they are competent or not……..
On the other hand, those who have not reference, they just get the rounds of offices for interviews. Here, Govt. of Pakistan should take steps for maintaining the pass out students as well as jobs opportunities. Government should take interest to balance among University production and job situations.
Maybe after this is act, Pakistan will progress day by day……..
